What are UZH framework job specifications?

The employment requirements of UZH staff in qualification positions are governed by so-called framework job specifications. The framework job specifications regulate rights and obligations.

VAUZ, as association of junior researchers, is endeavoring to make these rights and duties better known so that they can be implemented more effectively.
VAUZ has repeatedly conducted surveys among UZH staff in qualification positions.

The regulations on the framework duties of the faculties

At the end of 2003, Reglement über die Rahmenpflichtenhefte der Fakultäten für die Inhaberinnen und Inhaber von Qualifikationsstellen (Reglement Rahmenpflichtenhefte) (PDF, 148 KB) was approved by the EUB.

It provides for a share of at least 40% of the employment time defined in the employment for own qualification (in case of a 50% position thus 20% or one working day per week). Teaching is a right and a duty, but may not exceed 50% of the employment time. In addition, any teaching that exceeds 1 semester hour per week (for assistants) or two semester hours per week (for senior assistants) must be compensated additionally. The assumption of "scientific service tasks" can be agreed upon, but should provide for further training opportunities and should not last over a longer period of time.Subsequently, the regulation was introduced that in the case of multiple appointments (such as 50% SNF, 50% cantonal assistance), the entire scope of employment is used to determine the working time shares. Thus, if someone is already doing 50% research within the scope of the SNF employment, the university employment does not have to provide for any further working time shares for research and can be used entirely for teaching or other tasks.
