The Regulation for the Election of Delegates of the Representative Bodies to the Governing Bodies and Other Bodies of the University of Zurich

According to the Regulation for the Election of Delegates of the Representative Bodies to the Governing Bodies and Other Bodies of the University of Zurich (Elegtion Regulation, in German), effective as of 01.04.2020, the ordinary election of the delegates of the representative bodies in university and faculty committees as well as in committees of seminars, institutes and clinics takes place every two years. Each semester, vacant seats can be filled in a by-election.

To elect the delegates, an e-voting tool has been developed:

The election in  institutes, seminars or clinics are carried out independently in election assemblies in the respective units. For an electronic election, it is possible to use the E-Voting-Tool.

Election in Institutes, Clinics, Seminars

All information about the election in your institute, clinic, seminar:

From 19.09.2023 to 14.11.2023 you have time for the election.
You can vote on any chosen date within this period.
14.11.2023 is the last possible election day!
Please mind the deadlines for announcing the election, submit candidatures, announcing candidiatures, see procedure below, according to the UZH election regulation.
If the date of the election is postponed, the below mentioned dates will be postponed accordingly.

Election in an election meeting
The election regulation (German) specifies all dates for the election in the institute, clinic, seminar exactly, from p. 5.

  1. Announcement of the election 4 weeks before the election date > if you chose to vote on 14.11. then announce the seats at the latest on 17.10.
  2. Submit candidatures until 31.10. (2 weeks before election date on 14.11.)
  3. Have candidacies checked for eligibility by vauz@vauz.uzh.ch
  4. Announcement of candidatures until 07.11. (1 week before election date on 14.11.)
  5. The election will be open, unless a quarter of the participants request a secret ballot.
  6. Send in election protocol to vauz@vauz.uzh.ch

Institutes, clinics and seminars can also vote in writing / electronically
In this case, the election should be announced 8 weeks before the election date: 19.09.2023.
The exact procedure for the written election is defined in the election regulation (German).

How many seats do we have in our Institute, Clinic or Seminar Assembly?

This question is answered by the institute regulation of your institute. The number of seats is specified there. Currently, not all UZH institutes have a published institute regulation. If this is the case, please ask your institute's management. Please note that the legal documents are in German. If you have any questions, please contact vauz@vauz.uzh.ch
