Global Perspectives Program 2017

Get Ready for Your Academic Career!

Dear PhD Student

The Global Perspectives Program (GPP), developed by Prof. Karen P. DePauw at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in 2005, invites doctoral candidates of all fields to learn about Trends in Global Higher Education and Research and to broaden their understanding of Career Developments in the international academic arena.
By joining the program, participants will become part of a larger network of GPP alumni working across the globe. The University of Basel is already a GPP partner.

Since 2006, GPP participants of Virginia Tech have been visiting the University of Zurich, where they are received by the International Relations Office and by Prof. Dr. Philipp Gonon who give them insights into the UZH and the Swiss education system.

For the first time, an IfE PhD student participated in the GPP 2016 that included a trip to the USA with visits to MIT, Swissnex Boston, Boston College, Northeastern University and other educational institutions.
The GPP 2016 closed in June 2016 with a conference on the EU Modernization Agenda at the Swiss Embassy in Washington, sharing their insights with a select audience coming from Embassies, Higher Education Institutions and Funding Agencies.

Today, your opportunity has come to become a part of the Global Perspectives Program 2017!
Three doctoral students will be funded by the UZH Graduate Campus to participate in the GPP 2017.

The GPP 2017 will be the second pilot project at the University of Zurich - also used to assess whether the UZH Graduate Campus will officially offer the program in the future.

Are you interested in becoming a participant in the GPP 2017?
Do not hesitate to apply with a short CV and a short motivation letter to:
